I'm going to explain some tips on how to advance to an advanced builder. What I mean by this is, moving on from the beginner style building and getting advanced.
Here are all the tips, use as many as you want.
ALWAYS build in studio mode.
Sometimes people think that the easiest way to build is by pressing "Build" on your place which lets you build in a solo sever and save everything. This is NOT true. I suggest getting used to ROBLOX STUDIO. I will write up a guide on how to use roblox studio sometime. To get to studio click "Start" then "All Programs" then click on Roblox, then click on "Roblox Studio."
Find something original to build!
There's no point in building something like HELI WARS 2 and expect it to get popular. People these days want ORIGINALITY so remember that when building your games!
Get USED to using objects!
Sometimes people ask "How to people insert them sparkles?" or "How do they get smoke or fire to come out of a brick?" Well, in studio if you click "Insert" at the top. Then click "Object" and you'll see many, many different buttons that you can click. Here's a quick run-through of the ones that I use most.
- Script: Inserts a script to the location in explorer your on.
- WedgePart: Inserts a wedge-shaped part that can be copied and pasted to form big ramps.
- Seat: Inserts a seat into workspace where characters can sit down.
- IntValue: I use it often because I script. Often used for things like "If game.Workspace.NAMEOFINTVALUE.Value == NUMBER then" With IntValues scripts can use them to co-operate with each other so they can check to see if something has happned.
- BlockMesh: Hides the bevels and materials of any part.
- Special mesh: Used to make parts look like spheres or head shaped.
Look at REAL life objects before you build them.
Numerous time have I gone to look at images or real life objects of something I want to build, this way it gives me a pretty good idea in my head of how it could look in roblox.
Get USED to using advanced grid tools.
As you can see in this picture, these are in the top tab of roblox studio. I will explain more about these in my guide on how to use roblox studio.
FIND GOOD Roblox plugins!
There are a few good plugin's on our plugins page with how to install them. Plugins are very handy when it comes to faster building. You may also be able to find some good plugins at http://ironnoob.com/forums/index.php In the ROBLOX section.
I hope this has helped you, feel free to link your friends to any post on this blog and remember we're here to help! So if you have any questions or anything you want to know how to do, feel free to tweet it to me via twitter or send a message to me on roblox.
Cool!
